One of our favorite parts of our trip was swimming with the dolphins on Isla Mujeres, an island that we reached via ferry. I’ve uploaded a video of our time with the dolphins. These are snippets from a longer video that we purchased.

New theme

A year has gone by since the last time I changed the look of the site, so it is about time for another new look. This is a good time for a new look, as Elizabeth and I move forward into married life. This theme rotates different images in the header. Right now, there are 25 images that will rotate, and we can add more in the future. Above the site title at the top of the page are links to the pages of the site. Below the title are links to the six most populated post categories on the site.

Honeymoon video - Tulum

I’ve uploaded the first video from our honeymoon. This is video of our visit to Tulum, a pre-Columbian Mayan city (now ruins). The ruins were quite remarkable, and the view from the cliffs overlooking the ocean was spectacular. The one bad part of the day was that it was very hot, and we were worn down by the time we left. But, it was worth it. The low-res version is below, or you can see the high-res version at Vimeo.

Xel Ha

After visiting Tulum, our next stop was Xel Ha. The best way I can think to describe Xel Ha is that it is a nature sancturary and water park (salt water) wrapped up in one. You could snorkel or swim amongs all sorts of colorful fish, explore the trails and caves, swim with dolphins, or just relax and try out the different restaurants. We stayed at Xel Ha for a few hours, before the bus took us back to the resort. We didn’t swim with the dolphins, as we are doing that as part of a tour/cruise on Sunday. Tulum

We have a couple of excursions planned for the week. For the first one, we visited Tulum, site of ruins of a small Mayan city. It was a sweltering hot day, but it was interesting to see the ruins and imagine what life must have been like in the area centuries ago. The view was amazing, too. I’ve uploaded photos from Tulum.

The honeymoon begins

Elizabeth and I arrived in the Riviera Maya, in Mexico, on Monday afternoon. We are staying at the Iberostar Grand Hotel Paraiso, which is very nice. It is all inclusive, with 5 restaurants, a few pools, and people that go out of their way to help. We’ve had fun trying out a few of the restaurants so far, and have had good weather (good by my definition = not so much sun that I melt). I’ve uploaded some photos of the resort.

I’ve posted some random photos from our wedding. The photos are from the bridal shower for Elizabeth, the rehearsal dinner at 2201 in the boro, hanging out at home after the rehearsal dinner, and the wedding day. We really had a great day for our wedding - after a rainy Saturday, Sunday dawned with clear skies and nice temperatures. Everything came together nicely, and Elizabeth looked beautiful. We were surrounded by those closest to us, and had a nice, intimate ceremony.

Our wedding is September 7, 2008, in front of both of our families. To organize the information in one location, and to give me an excuse to make another website, we’ve put the wedding information up on its own site, www.ellisklinewedding.com. The site is still a work in progress as we finalize the plans, but the main information is there now. We hope to add more information as we approach the wedding date.

Elizabeth’s birthday at Box Hill

On June 21, Dad Ellis, Vanessa, Meredith, Elizabeth, and I went to Box Hill Mansion for a birthday dinner for Elizabeth, and to finalize wedding plans. We are getting married at Box Hill on September 7. I took some video while we were there. Weather permitting, the wedding will be outdoors, down to the left of the reflecting pond shown in part of the video. The high def version is here.
